relief society conference

I went to a big regional Relief Society (Societe de Secours) meeting in another town. I can't quite remember the name of the city. It was about an hour and a half or 2 hour drive South of Angers. I rode with 3 ladies down there.. Elizabeth, Vivienne and the bishops wife (I should have written about these things sooner! I'm forgetting details and names already :( ) We had a nice meeting and everyone worked on a craft for awhile. We brought our favorite verse of scripture and then made it into something. I did a little embroidery bookmark. I had completely forgot, but as I worked I remember my Grandma Hanks teaching me how to embroider years and years ago. My work still looked like that of a 5 year old, but I was pleased that I finished it. I chose the scripture "J'irai et je ferai" meaining "I will go and I will do..." I've never really thought much of the scripture before, but hearing it in French, and thinking about the meaning of it, made me decided that it was my favorite. Anyway, after the craft time and lunch they split us in two groups. Half went to play sports and half went to see the city. I think it's obvious what I chose. Our tour guide was explaining the city and monuments... in too much detail for me to care about.... and I started spacing. As we walked, I started noticing something different about him. It turns out our tour guide was blind! It kind of made me laugh. I was very impressed at his knowledge of the city. He even got in an arguement with one of the locals about who's version of history was right! This local had lived on the same street (the street in front of the cathedral) her whole life... she had moved 3 times, but always ended up on the same street. I think she told us she had a suspsiscion that she was a reincarnated.. some historic lady or other... and that's why she lived on that street. She was a little nuts... but funny and energetic!  Here's the cathedral. It's probably one of the oldest one that I've visited. It was very simple and very ancient.
Inside the cathedral they had my favorite statue of Joan of Arc I have ever seen. I absolutely loved it!

This was their bridge.

I would drown in this.
Fun day trip!
