A couple from our ward took us to a castle one day. They picked us up from our house and we went to their house for lunch. They made us crepes with cheese, and a mediterranean chicken with sauce to put over the crepes. It was wonderful! We also had a vegetable salad, and dessert of course :) Then we headed to the castle. When I remember the name of it I'll post it here... it was about 20 minutes outside of Angers (Northeast I think) We took a tour of the inside and saw lots of old furniture and books. This, like most castles was a hospital during the wars. I don't have a lot to say about it..It was just pretty and I wanted to share the pictures.
Vivienne and Christian Morot
The draw bridges actually functioned! They worked based on a counterweight system.
After the chateau, they took us to the "Bouche-Maine" This is where our little river (the shortest in France I hear) the Maine meets the big river (the longest in France, I hear) the Loire. Its about 10 minutes drive outside of town.
A distant view of Angers. We didn't get too far into the outskirts of the city. We didn't like walking that far, and we never really were motivated to take the bus. (other than on castle quest day), so we were thankful that the Morots helped us see these things! We also stopped by the lake. Le lac de Maine. Its just an offshoot of the river that makes a lake. It was a very popular place!
