Days 3-7 we stayed in Nice. It was very cold and windy the first day so we were a little worried about how our beach plans would go, but it ended up getting warm. :)
Happy "Nicester" (Nice+Easter) We ate our kinder eggs on the beach of the Mediterranean Sea. Life doesnt get much better than this! Did I mention it was really windy!?
A memorial to soldiers who died in the wars.
FLOWERS!
FISH!
Nice's castle got destroyed at some point so they only have ruins now. Its all up on a hill overlooking the sea and the harbor.
One of Kennans kinder egg toys was a "flyer" and he enjoyed throwing it at some pigeons. We spend a couple hours at this park on easter and got super sunburned..
These are some old Roman Ruins up on a hill on the mountain side of Nice. The downtown area of the city is really dirty, touristy and kind of unimpressive. If you walk up the hill on the otherside of the railroad tracks its a whole different story. Its clean and pretty there, I guess thats where the rich people live. :)
We strolled through the university campus, which was in a very cool park nestled between two big hills. Im not sure this is old, but it was a pretty picture anyway!
Then we saw the Russian Church.
And then bought some snickers Ice cream to eat while we walked the Promenades. The Promenade Anglais and the Promenade Etats-Unis. We mostly hung out on the Etats-Unis (US one cuz it was closer to our hotel... they are basically the same thing though)
This picture is actually from Cannes. We took the bus there because it was only 2 euro per person round trip. It took 2 hours each way, but we got to see some of the other towns as we drove through them. The beaches in Nice are all rocky and Cannes has nice sandy beaches. The day we decided to go to Cannes however it started raining a few hours after we got there. This is infront of the building where they hold the Cannes Film Festival.
Now back to Nice. These are what almost all of the old town streets look like. Most of them are full of little shops and during the day they have a big antiques market near the beach. The middle picture is the road where we had a nice dinner the evening of our last day in Nice.
Now its time to play wierd things we saw in Nice.. First.. Square head..
Second, the church dedicated to Joan of Arc
And just to reitterate, the blue head was really wierd...
Haha. Wow. Weird blue head. It all looks so cool! I am jealous.
