Day 2: We left Blois bright and early, trained to Paris and from there took a high speed TGV train to Nice. We got in around 2:30 and it was pouring. Found our hotel and had a hard time getting in. Apparently during the middle of the day they are closed... luckily one of the other people who live in the building let us in. After the rain stopped we decided we might as well go see Monaco, which is about 15 minutes away on the train.
This is right outside of the train station.
We found these stairs and were curious as to where they led.. it looked like they just led to some maintenance tower or something so we got scared and came back down them. What we didnt know then was there are stairs everywhere in Monaco. Its built into the hills and cliffs right about the see.. It is a very unique place.
I loved the flowers there! The one on the right reminds me of some tropical bird. :)
Since there are stairs all over, it would make sense that there would need to be elevators.. right? Here is one of the hundreds of public elevators!
They are doing a lot of construction.. the villas are just incredible. I took pictures, but they just didnt do them justice. Monaco really is the place to play when you are rich I guess!
Thank goodness for the signs! It makes me shake my head to think that these are actually necessary.
Stairs up to the castle
Kennan pondering over the harbor
This is the view from the castle hill. On the side opposite the harbor. Ok.. For some reason the formatting is being a jerk so Im just guna have to write the rest here. Basically Monaco had a lot of big expensive buildings. The boats in the harbor were crazy big, and they were setting up the race track for the Monaco Grand Prix! We thought Nick would just love that! And the cars there! The octopus sculpture was outside the oceanic museum, the ferrari was just outisde the casino (which is only for high class rich people.. Not like a Vegas casino at all! haha) and then there are some pictures of the cools houses/streets.
Here is a little church. The train station entrance is right behind it. Crazy place, Monaco.
Haha. Love the sign. Monaco looks sweet. I also like seeing you wear some of my old clothes. :) We miss you guys!
